Key Stage 3

TRIPS

Key Stage 3 students have taken part in trips to the National Cyber Security Centre, the Cyber Horizons Girls in ICT event at Worcester University, ICT Workshops and Qinetic

EVENTS

CLUBS AND COMPETITIONS

The Department runs an award winning E Twinning programme and has established links with school in Italy and France. Pupils have taken part in digital projects with counterparts in Europe

E TWINNING

The Department celebrates annual events such as International Girls in ICT Day, Hour of Code, Safer Internet Day

Clubs include Minecraft, Girl ICT Club  and as part of EU Code week students took part in a Key Stage 3 Competition to win pairs of Google Cardboard VR Goggles

Key Stage 3 Curriculum

Students in Key Stage 3 are provided with a solid foundation in all aspects of Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy. E Safety is taught in Years 7, 8 and 9

  • Year 7

       Students learn how computers work (computer components and their              function) programming with Scratch, and complete units of work on                  spreadheets and algorithms 

  • Year 8

       In Year 8 the Scheme of work includes text based programming                          with Python, crypyogtaphy, databases, computer networks  and                        podcasting

  • Year 9                                                                                                           Students learn about careers in ICT, how blogs and wikis are used, data representations including binary and ASCii and create a digital media product using a range of different softwares
