Candidates study a range of ICT systems in a business organisational context. Each year the exam board will choose a business for you to investigate. Typical organisations include:
Hospital, Leisure Centre, Theatre, Retail Organisations, Construction Company, Financial Institution.
Controlled Assessment Worth 20%
Student’s develop skills in project planning, group work and evaluative skills.
Students create solutions to real world scenarios. Students use photo editing and video editing software, in addition to audio editing and animation software.
The department uses open source software so students can practice at home.
OCR GCSE ICT - J061 (Short Course)
Controlled Assessment Worth 20%
Each year the exam board will set a choice of challenges for you to solve. This unit typically involves creating a financial spreadsheet model for a real life scenario.
You will work in groups to carry out research before completing an individual write-up. You will be assessed on how well your solution meets the needs of the user.
Written Examination Worth 20% May'16
This is a theoretical unit which includes the following topics:

Students complete Unit B061 which is worth 40% (Written Exam) and Unit B062 60% (Controlled Assessment)

Controlled Assessment Guidance
Both Units B062 and B064 are completed under controlled conditions. Students complete some of their work in LOW control (limited supervision) and the rest in MEDIUM control (informal supervision). Controlled Assessment work is not allowed to be taken home unless directed by the classroom teacher and only during LOW control. Controlled assessments are internally marked and moderated, all marks given to students are PROVISIONAL subject to OCR external moderation.
